I dont think it's possible

I'm just a PivotCube user so don't take what I say as thruth but :

- PivotCube extract data from relationnal database and compile cubes.
- MS Analysis Services is not a relationnal engine but a OLAP engine, like you said.

So I don't think it's possible.

Sorry,

Potentially there are no big difference which source used as facts data and ADO (OLEDB) supports as SQL queries as SQL MDX queries.

Therefore it is possible (but I have not working examples, sorry) to use MS OLAP as large data mining storage and PivotCubeX as frontend for small cubes extracted as parts of large storage. It may be useful for data storage capacity like 100,000,000 cube cells or over

Usage of PivotCube for small/average MS OLAP cubes is useless as for technical reasons as for economical reasons - MS SQL costs much more than upgrade workstation for suitable work with PivotCubeX + non-expensive database (FireBird, Postgress, even dbf or mdb)

As I said, i'm not a PivotCube master :(

But be careful :
- MDX has nothing to do with SQL
- OLEDB API for OLAP (AdomdClient) is separated from relationnal API

I'm really interested in this kind of features too ! Could you explain more how to access OLAP engine ? any example ?

Have a nice day,
Guillaume

As far I know ADODB for MDX returns data in same _Recordset type as "native" ADODB. It is mean that data can be loaded too.

Pity but I have no examples. Mostly I have created PivotCube as replacement (in some sort of tasks) for MS OLAP so I never state a task to follow in MS way
